Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity

Effective Date: October 3, 2026

A home search should work the same way for everyone who uses it. HomeScoutie is committed to equal access to property information for every buyer and tenant, regardless of religion, caste, community, gender, marital status, disability, or region of origin.

"Fair housing" laws differ by country — this page sets out HomeScoutie's own equal-opportunity commitment, adapted for the Indian context we operate in, rather than claiming compliance with a law from elsewhere.

1Our Commitment

Every user searching on HomeScoutie — buyer, tenant, or investor — should be able to see the same listings, the same pricing, and the same property information as anyone else searching with the same criteria. Our AI search tools match people to properties based on budget, location and lifestyle preferences they choose, never on protected personal characteristics.

2What We Don't Allow

Owners, builders and agents listing on HomeScoutie agree not to:

  • Publish a listing description or advertisement that excludes or expresses a preference against any individual or group.
  • Refuse to respond to, or quote different terms to, a genuine enquirer based on their religion, caste, gender, marital status, disability, or region of origin.
  • Use HomeScoutie to circulate discriminatory tenancy or sale conditions.

We review what's reported to us

We review listings reported for violating this policy and act on confirmed violations, up to removing the listing or the lister's access to HomeScoutie, through the same Grievance Redressal process used for all other complaints.

3Your Rights as a Home Seeker

  • Equal access to listing details, pricing, and availability shown to any other user searching the same property.
  • Accurate, non-misleading information about a property's legal status and condition — including RERA details where declared, as covered in our RERA Compliance page.
  • The right to raise a concern about discriminatory treatment by any lister, agent, or builder found through HomeScoutie.
  • The right to search and shortlist properties without your personal details being used to narrow what you're shown.

4Rooted in India's Legal Principles

This commitment isn't created in a vacuum — it reflects principles already present in Indian law:

  • Articles 14 & 15 of the Constitution of India guarantee equality before the law and prohibit discrimination on grounds including religion, race, caste, sex, and place of birth.
  • The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA) and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 reinforce transparency and fair dealing for every buyer and tenant, which we see as inseparable from equal treatment.

5Reporting a Concern

If you experienced or witnessed discriminatory treatment through a listing, agent, or builder on HomeScoutie, please tell us — the same acknowledgment and resolution timelines described in our Grievance Redressal process apply here too.

Think a listing fell short of this?

Report it and we'll review it through our grievance process.
